304 Stainless Steel

304 stainless steel is the most widely used commercial grade of stainless steel. 304 stainless steel sheet metal is a versatile, anti-rusting, heat resistant steel for general uses with food equipment, plumbing materials, kitchen sinks, and back splashes. This stainless steel is austenitic, meaning it will not attract or hold a magnet. If you need that feature in your stainless steel, try the 430 grade. Choose from the finishes listed below.

#4 Finish

The #4 finish is the brushed finish commonly seen on kitchen appliances and backsplashes. It also features a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation. Our 304 stainless steel sheet #4 finish meets the criteria for both #3 and #4 finish.

#8 Mirror Finish

The #8 mirror finish has a non-directional finish that virtually looks like a mirror. This finish is characterized by a highly polished look, and it does not have a coating or finishing material to give it reflectivity. It comes with a double layer of PVC film to protect the mirror finish during fabrication and installation.

2B Finish

The 2B finish is a mill finish that is smooth, as opposed to the brushed finish commonly seen on kitchen appliances. The finish is light gray in color, and may or may not have a protective film on one side to prevent scratching. Customers can contact the sales department to see if the 2B finish has a protective film on the material if needed. However, if a clean, non-scratched finish is desired, the #4 brushed finish will have a protective film every time.

BA Mirror Finish

The 304 stainless steel bright annealed (BA) finish is cold-rolled stainless steel that is annealed in a controlled atmosphere to retain a highly reflective finish. Although it is not completely identical to the #8 mirror finish, it appears very similar. The BA finish has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.

316L Stainless Steel

316L stainless steel sheet metal, also called marine-grade stainless steel, is used primarily for its increased resistance to corrosion. The "L" means that the carbon content of the alloy is below 0.03%, which makes the 316L stainless steel sheet preferable for welding. Common uses for this stainless steel include wall cladding, decorative commercial and residential applications, outdoor applications, food grade applications, and any situation in which high corrosion resistance is needed. 316L is austenitic, meaning it will not attract magnets like the 430 grade. Choose between several finishes listed below.

#4 Finish

The #4 finish of 316L is the brushed finish commonly seen on kitchen appliances and backsplashes. This 316L stainless steel sheet has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.

Our 316L stainless steel sheet with 2B finish will not have a protective film, so the 316L stainless steel sheet will commonly have scratching (not gouging) from when it is cut to size, fabricated, and shipped. If a scratch-free surface is needed, please contact us to inquire about having a PVC film applied.

430 Stainless Steel

430 stainless steel sheet metal is a slightly lower grade than the 300 series, and is commonly used for applications where the metal needs to hold a magnet. 430 is more susceptible to corrosion since it does not contain nickel or molybdenum. Common uses are for 430 stainless steel sheets are automotive and decorative trim, wall cladding, and applications that require the steel to hold a magnet. Choose any of the finishes below for your order of 430 stainless steel sheet.

#8 Mirror Finish

It comes with a double layer of PVC film to protect the finish.

#4 Finish

The brushed finish called #4 is commonly seen on kitchen appliances and backsplashes. Our 430 stainless steel sheets with #4 finish have a PVC film on one side to help protect from scratching during fabrication and installation, and it meets the criteria for both the #3 and #4 finish.

BA Mirror Finish

Although it is not completely identical to the #8 mirror finish, it looks very similar. This BA finish has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.
